Setting up a rental is easy!

Step One: Gather the information we need to set up your instrument rental

Information you need from your teacher:

Instrument Size: Most school teachers will size students the spring before orchestra starts. They know this is several months in advance and have anticipated average growth, so you won’t need to worry about getting the size checked at the end of summer. If your child was not sized by their teacher, you can make an appointment to be measured by Amadeus Strings at our shop.

Accessories: We have a specially curated Beginning Student Package available that includes items most music teachers require students to have before school lessons start. These items will be delivered to your school with your instrument outfit if submitted by the August 15 deadline.

Or build your own package when you set up your rental!

We also carry a selection of additional accessories your teacher may have instructed you to acquire which may be purchased when you set up your rental, such as tuners, metronomes, strings, and shoulder rests.

Books: Essential Elements, Sound Innovations, and Suzuki are the most common, and we carry all of them!
Arlington, Hyde Park, Monroe Woodbury: Central Valley and Pine Tree, Spackenkill and Wappingers: Essential Elements for Strings Book 1
Cornwall, Monroe Woodbury: North Main: Sound Innovations Book 1

Music Stand: We carry one-piece metal folding music stands for your child to practice at home! They even come with a carrying case for easy travel.

Upgraded Shoulder Rests: All violin and viola rentals include a contoured shoulder sponge with the standard rental rate. Some teachers will suggest students purchase upgraded shoulder rests that attach to the instrument. We carry several popular brands, including Everests and Kuns that can be purchased when you set up your rental.

Tuners and Metronomes: We have a selection of tuners and metronomes available, such as Snark Clip-On Tuners and Korg TM-60 Tuner Metronomes.

Strings: If a string breaks on your rental instrument, you can make an appointment to come in and purchase a replacement, but if you want a set of spare strings that your teacher can use to repair your child’s instrument at school, you can purchase it when you set up your rental! We will supply you with the same brand of strings that your instrument is fitted with. Prices below:

Violin: Dominant, $90
Viola (10” - 14”): Dominant, $120
Viola (15” and up): Helicore, $100
Cello (up to 3/4): Helicore, $130
Cello (4/4): Kaplan, $150
